“Tanner! I’m un-grounded! Can you still come take me to the mall?” I shouted into my phone.

As soon as I had turned it back on, a flurry of texts and voicemails from Tanner popped up. I ignored them all and just dialed.

“Whoa! Whoa!” I heard Tanner say. “You said you punched you’re brother’s lights out!”

“Well, actually, just a bloody nose…”

“I can’t believe…”

“…and a black eye.”

The phone went silent.

“Tanner?” I said. “Are you still there? Hello?” More silence.

“I’ll be right there,” he said at last.
